Speedy Car Sales, located in Klerksdorp, South Africa, is a luxury vehicle dealership that has made a name for itself in the industry. Under the ownership of Farouk Dangor, the dealership offers a wide range of high-end vehicles to customers from all over the country.
Speedy Car Sales has received numerous awards for its exceptional level of service, professionalism, and quality, including being named the ABSA #1 Executive Dealer in South Africa for 10 consecutive years and being recognized as a ABSA Top 50 Golden Dealer for an impressive 29 years. In 2013, the dealership was honored as a Golden Partner by ABSA for 25 years of consecutive success.
Farouk’s passion for motor cars and customer service has led to his recognition as an ABSA Golden Dealer Award winner for 31 successive years and as the Top Executive Dealer for 10 years in South Africa. Farouk’s success story began with a mere R300 start-up capital from his late father in 1974 and his perseverance has led to the creation of a successful dealership that stocks over 250 vehicles from a Ford Figo to Ferraris.
Farouk Dangor – A Passionate Racer and Philanthropist
Farouk Dangor, the owner of Speedy Car Sales, has a rich history in the world of motor racing. He was the first Indian racer in 1980 to represent South Africa against the world team in Hotrod racing and went on to compete in National Group N Production Cars and South African Touring cars, recording numerous successes along the way.
In 1992, Farouk became the first Indian and only Klerksdorp racer to have competed in the 24-hour endurance race at Nurburgring in Germany, regarded as one of the most difficult races in the world. Farouk has been recognized for his business achievements and was nominated as Businessman of the Year for Klerksdorp and as Wesbank Muslim Businessman of the Year in South Africa.
Aside from his achievements in the business world, Farouk is also a philanthropist and has served as treasurer of the Klerksdorp Muslim Community for the past 21 years.
Celebrating the Racing Legacy of Farouk Dangor
Farouk Dangor’s son, the late Mohamed, decided to celebrate his father’s achievements in motor racing by creating a modern-day motor museum in Klerksdorp. The museum features Farouk’s original racing cars, including the BMW 325 IS, Opel Super Boss, and BMW M3 British Touring Car, all restored to their original specs.
The museum also features original race suits and helmets from Formula 1 drivers and some of the top South African racing drivers from the golden era of motor racing in the country, including Tony Viana, Michael Biggs, Shaun van der Linde, Giniel de Villiers, Robbie Smith, and Willie Hepburn.
The legacy of Farouk Dangor’s passion for motor racing lives on through the museum and his impact on the industry will not be forgotten.
